Orem (pop. 90,000) is located 45mi/72km south of Salt Lake City in Utah county in northcentral Utah. The city was named for Walter C. Orem, a railroad entrepreneur.
The David McKay Events Center at Utah Valley State College in Orem has 8,500 seats and is the home of the Utah Catzz of the Professional Indoor Football League.
The SCERA Heritage Center has exhibits on the founding and history of Orem, as well as pioneer and Indian artifacts. SCERA was founded in 1933 and is an abbreviation for Sharon's Cultural, Educational, Recreation Association.
