Kane County is located on the Arizona border and one of 29 counties in Utah. The county is named for Thomas Kane who was a colonel and friend of the Mormon settlers.
The small town of Big Water (pop. 400) is located in Kane County near Lake Powell and the Glen Canyon Dam. The town was formerly known as Glen Canyon City.
Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park is located 22mi/35.4km northwest Kanab on Sand Dunes Road. The park has camping and picnicking facilities, and is popular with off-road vehicle enthusiasts.
