Glen Canyon National Recreation Area

Southwest of Canyonlands National Park, round the 185mi/300km long Lake Powell (formed by a dam on the Colorado River), is the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Here, in the middle of the desert, has been created an all-year-round leisure center which attracts large numbers of anglers and sailing and water sports enthusiasts. The massive dam is a tourist sight in itself.
The area features over 1.2 million acres stretching from Lees Ferry, Arizona to the Orange Cliffs of southern Utah.
