Farmington (pop. 14,000) was originally known as North Cottonwood when it was settled in 1848. Located 17m/27km north of Salt Lake City in Davis County, the town is known for its Lagoon Amusement Park which is the largest amusement park in the area.
The Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area was built in 1935. The wetland habitats in the area are home to a variety of birds including pelicans, cranes, geese, ducks, herons and eagles. The area is a great spot for biking.
At Farmington, 15mi/24km north of Salt Lake City, is this large Wild West theme park, with an impressive reconstruction of a town of pioneering days.
The park features more than 40 rides including rollercoasters and slides.

The USU Botanical Gardens in Farmington feature a wide variety of local plants. It is operated by Utah State University for the purpose of studying the flora and fauna of the area.
