Emery County

Emery County is named after former Utah territorial governor George W. Emery. It is one of 29 counties in Utah and part of the Castle Country travel region. It is the site of the towns of Huntington and Orangeville.

The Presbyterian Church in Green River is located on West Third Avenue and is listed on the National Historic Register. It was built in 1906.

Castle Dale, Utah

Castle Dale (pop. 1,700) is the seat of Emery County and is located on Cottonwood Creek. The town was founded in 1875 by cattleman Orange Seely.

Emery County Pioneer Museum

The Emery County Pioneer Museum in Castle Dale is located in the town's City Hall. The museum features the recreation of a typical pioneer home, schoolroom, store and lawyer's office. There is also an art gallery featuring the work of local artists and a tool display.

Buckhorn Wash

The Buckhorn Wash near Castle Dale features the remains of rock art left by the ancient Fremont Indians, who inhabited the Emery County area from about 500 to 1500 AD. The site is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Wedge Overlook

The 6.5mi/10km trail to the Wedge Overlook provides spectacular views and scenic vistas. The Overlook is also known as Utah's Little Grand Canyon. It is located 13mi/21km east of Castle Dale.
