Carbon County

East Carbon (pop. 1,400) is the fourth-largest town in Carbon County. It was established in 1973 from the combination of two mining towns.

Helper (pop. 2,000) is the second-largest town in Carbon County. It was settled in 1870 and became known as the town of "57 varieties" for the ethnic diversity of laborers brought in to work in the mines. It is located 7mi/11km northwest of Price.

The Western Mining and Railroad Museum is located in the town of Helper which was founded by the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad. The museum features indoor and outdoor displays, including a 1917 railroad caboose.

Nine Mile Canyon in Carbon County has the remains of Fremont Indian rock art and an old stagecoach freight road from Price to the Uinta Basin.

Scofield (pop. 28) is a small town in Carbon County, located in the Manti-LaSal Mountains at an elevation of 7,600ft/2,300m.

Scofield State Park is located on a 2,800-acre lake in the Manti-LaSal Mountains. It features fishing, boating and camping opportunities.

Sunnyside (pop. 400) is the fifth-largest town in Carbon County in east-central Utah.

Wellington (pop. 1,660) is the third-largest town in Carbon County. It is located southeast of Price.
