55mi/88km north of Salt Lake City is Brigham City (named after the Mormon leader Brigham Young), with a Mormon tabernacle of 1881 and an informative Pioneer Museum.
Originally called Box Elder, Brigham City (pop. 17,000) is the seat of Box Elder County. It is located on the slope of the Wellsville Mountains in Box Elder Canyon.
Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge
The Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge near Perry is one of the largest refuges in the country with 74,000 acres of land. It features more than 200 species of birds in a marshland surrounded by desert.

Historic Brigham City Depot
There is a historic rail depot at 633 West Forest in Brigham City. The depot was built in 1906 and was once owned by the Union Pacific Railroad. It is now owned by the county.
Inspiration Point
A narrow road from Mantua leads to Inspiration Point which is a lookout near the summit of Willard Peak. On a clear day, visitors can see all the way into Nevada and Utah.

Tabernacle
The Brigham City Tabernacle was originally completed in 1881 and rebuilt after a fire in 1896. The tabernacle was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.
