Beaver (pop. 2,500) is the largest town and seat of its county. The town is located on Interstate 15 at an elevation of 5,970ft/1,800m. Beaver was founded in 1856 by Mormons Pioneers and has a historic district with dozens of buildings listed on the National Historic Register.
The Beaver Courthouse Museum is located in a courthouse that was built in 1883. The museum showcases artifacts from the pioneer era. Next door is the new Philo T. Farnsworth Historical Park.
The Beaver Public Library is the central library for Beaver County and is listed on the National Historic Register. The current building was completed in 1922.
