Mondsee
The Mondsee, 11km/7mi long and over 2km/1.25miles wide, one of the warmest lakes in the Salzkammergut (up to 26 deg C/79 deg F), is picturesquely set against the backdrop of the sheer Drachenwand and the Schafberg. On the partly wooded slopes around the banks of the lake there is little human habitation - apart from the modest market town of Mondsee and a few scattered hotels and country houses. The lake offers facilities for swimming, surfing and sailing (sailing schools), waterskiing, fishing and tennis.
