Upper Austria - Alpine Foreland
Between the Danube and the northern slopes of the Alps, in the Alpine foreland, are to be found the most fertile regions of Upper Austria and also its main industrial areas. In this zone unfolds the Innviertel, with low ranges of hills rising between beautiful valleys. Between the Innviertel and the Traunviertel lies the rather harsher Hausruckviertel, in which lignite is mined.

On the southern bank of the Traun lies Stadl-Paura, with a conspicuous pilgrimage church dedicated to the Trinity, a handsome Baroque building built by Johann Michael Prunner 1714-17. The abbot Maximilian Pagel had suggested in 1713 that a church should be built if Lambach were saved from the plague. It is on a triangular plan with three towers and a sumptuous interior. Stadl-Paura also possesses an interesting Boatmen's Museum.
