Dubai is the second largest emirate, in terms of size, in the United Arab Emirates. The Emirate of Dubai extends along the Arabian Gulf coast. The weather in Dubai is generally good all year except July and August can be uncomfortably hot.

Most of the historical sites are on both sides of the creek that runs through the heart of the city. Jumeirah beach is a major tourism area and the resort town of Hatta is an extremely attractive locations for tourists. Dubai's prominence and prosperity came to light in the 1960's with the discovery of oil but Sheikh Rashid did not want to rely solely on oil so he promoted other industrial ventures. The Aluminium and Cement factory are the result of his persistence.

The man-made port was constructed in the 1970's. With 67 berths Jebel Ali is the world's largest man-made harbor and the biggest port in the Middle East.
