U Thong Museum

The U Thong style found its most definitive expression in its sculpture (no single building has been preserved from the U Thong period). The U Thong Museum, opened in 1976, offers an overview of the three styles of the sculpture of this period. Other exhibits include stone tools (from the early Stone Age), reliefs in burnt clay (4-5th c.) influenced by Indian Amaravati art, terracotta figures and sculptures from the Dvaravati period (6-11th c.) and evidence of Srivijaya art.
