Reservoirs

Several large reservoirs, which offer good facilities for water sports, can be reached from Tuxtla Gutiérrez. About 35km/22mi north of the town is the reservoir Presa Chicoasén with one of the largest hydro-electric power stations in Latin America; 88km/55mi to the north-west, beyond Ocotzocuatla, is the reservoir of Netzahualcóyotl or Mal Paso while 68km/42mi to the south-east, beyond Las Limas, is the reservoir Presa de la Angostura.
