One of the favorite haunts for the citizens of Kayseri during the summer is the town of Talas, some 10km/6.5mi to the southeast. A little further south stood the old center of Zincidere (Roman Flaviana), the seat of the Archbishop of Caesarea. Two rock chapels and a troglodyte church have been preserved.
