Description
The row of temples ends with Temple D, built c. 540 B.C. 10 years younger than Temple C, it already shows Classical proportions of six by 13 columns. The interior consists of a deep pronaos, cella and adyton. Like Temple C, it has no opisthodomos (priest's sanctuary).

Following the north-south axis in a northerly direction the visitor will pass through remains of living quarters dating from after 409 B.C. to the main gateway to the Acropolis in front of which, probably in the third century B.C., strong fortifications were installed, including ditches, bastions and towers.
