Yorkville straddles both sides of the Fox River and is located about 50 miles southwest of Chicago. Canoeing, kayaking and picnicking are popular on the Fox River while Silver Spring State Park provides a place for family activities such as biking.
Chapel on the Green was built in 1855 and is the oldest church building in Kendall County. Inside the church, the restored 1899 pipe organ and stained glass windows are a must see. Heritage Hall is adjacent to the church and it houses a museum and a research library. Photographs, census records, artifacts and vital records are available.
Lyon Farm and Village is an open air museum featuring 15 preserved historic buildings that trace the history of Kendall County. Visitors can experience historic farming techniques and pioneer ways of life as well as learn about native prairie grasses.
