Valdosta (pop. 44,000) was originally named Troupville. The town is located in southern Georgia, near the Florida border. It was relocated to take advantage of the railroad route and was renamed Valdosta. It features three historic districts.
The Lowndes County Historical Society Museum displays documents, photographs, and artifacts related to Valdosta and Lowndes County.

Located within General Coffee State Park, the Heritage Farm has log cabins, a corn crib, tobacco barn, cane mill, barnyard animals and other exhibits. General John Coffee was a planter, US Congressman and military leader.
