Tillamook (pop. 4,400) is a dairy farming and lumber town. Tourists enjoy the coastal beauty and recreational opportunities, including deep-sea fishing, crabbing, and other outdoor sports.
The Latimer Quilt & Textile Center in Tillamook displays a variety of handmade textiles and textile-making equipment. The museum features quilts from the nineteenth century to the present day.
The Tillamook County Pioneer Museum is housed in the Tillamook Court House which was built in 1905. It features more than 35,000 items and 10,000 photographs on pioneer life, natural history, and a children's exhibit.
The Tillamook Naval Air Station Museum features more than 30 WWII aircraft, as well as blimps, historical photographs and other related items. The building itself is 1,072ft/372m long and 192ft/59m high and is said to be the largest clear span wood structure in the world.
