St George, UT Attractions

In the southwest corner of the state is St George, where Brigham Young spent the winter. Some 17,000 tons of sandstone were used in the Mormon Temple here, and timber had to be brought from 80 miles away. St George owes its popular name of Dixie to the cotton grown in the area.
St George (pop. 64,000) is the largest town and county seat of Washington County.
