Sevenoaks Attractions

From Sevenoaks or from Tunbridge Wells it is only a few miles to Chiddingstone, a pretty little place with 16th and 17th century houses and the parish church of St Mary, which was rebuilt in the Jacobean style after a fire. The pseudo-medieval Chiddingstone Castle, which dates from the 17th century, contains a variety of collections, including Stuart relics.

Emmetts Garden is a National Trust property located in Sevenoaks. It is noted for its rare trees and shrubs, bluebells and rock garden. It is situated on the highest point in Kent and offers spectacular views across the Weald.

Eynsford has a well-preserved castle from 1088 and many buildings from the 16th century.

At the Eagle Heights Bird of Prey Centre in Eynsford eagles, hawks, falcons and vultures fly in regular outside displays over the Darent Valley. All aviaries are indoors and there is also an expanding reptile collection.

Hollanden Farm Park contains 50 breeds of rare farm animals. Other attractions include woodland trails, an Iron Age settlement, an adventure playground and trailer rides.

Ightham Mote is a medieval manor house. This National Trust property dates back to the 1340s with many of the main features of the house spanning several centuries.

Its Tudor chapel and Billiards rooms have recently been restored as have the drawing room and library.

Lullingstone Roman Villa is an English Heritage property located in Eynsford. It is one of England's most magnificent Roman villas, built around 100 AD and abandoned around 420 AD. Since its discovery in 1939, excavations have unearthed mosaic pavements and three marble busts (contained in the British Museum). The wall plaster reveals Britain's earliest known place of Christian worship (fourth century).
