Tourist Attractions in Serra do Marao

A very attractive excursion winds its way eastward over about 50km/ 30mi through the wooded Serra do Marao (1,415m/4,643ft), reaching a height of 1,020m/3,347ft at the Alto do Espinho pass then descending past the Pousada de Sao Gonçalo (885m/2,904ft), where there is a magnificent view, despite the ravages of forest fires and road-building.

There are fine views all along the rest of the route which carries on to Vila Real.
