Punjab Attractions

The state of Punjab is most famous for the Golden Temple in Amristar, which is a sacred place for the Sikhs. The name Punjab means 'Land of Five Waters' but after Partition and the separation of Haryana, only the Sutlej and the Beas Rivers flow through the state.

Chandigarh serves as the capital of both Punjab and Haryana but does not belong to either state, it is a union territory.

The climate from April to June is very hot and the monsoon season runs from July to September so the best time to visit Punjab is from October to March.

Anandpur Sahib is one of the holiest Sikh sites, the birthplace of the Khalsa or Sikh brotherhood in 1699. Also known as the holy City of Bliss, Anandpur Sahib is a sacred place with links to the Sikh religious traditions and history.
