Presque Isle, ME Attractions

Presque Isle (pop. 9,500) is the main industrial center in Aroostook County. It is also a good base from which to explore nearby Aroostock State Park. The Read Art Gallery on the University of Maine Main Street campus is not to be missed.
Fort Kent - Fort Kent State Historic Site, Maine
(Near Presque Isle)
The fort at the Fort Kent State Historic Site was built in 1839 and contains a wooden blockhouse. There are picnic facilities at the site.

Van Buren - Acadian Village, Maine
(Near Presque Isle)
The Acadian Village displays a number of reconstructed 19th century buildings, including a general store, schoolhouse blacksmith shop, homes, church, and a museum.

The village is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
