This historic river port town of Pocahontas maintains a number of old buildings, including the 1872 Old Randolph County Courthouse. A meteor which fell here in 1859 can be seen out front of the current courthouse.
Pocahontas is a popular boating and fishing destination long the river.
Old Davidsonville State Park, formerly Davidsonville City, contains Arkansas' oldest office, courthouse, and land office, all built in 1817. Fishing and boating are popular along the Black River. There are also four hiking trails through Old Davidsonville State Park.

Located within the town of Mammoth Spring, the Mammoth Spring State Park is home to one of the largest springs in the USA. Water flow is approximately 9 million gallons per hour. Also located in the park is a restored 1886 train depot and a Frisco Railroad caboose.
Arkansas State University Museum features exhibits on the cultural and natural history of Arkansas from prehistoric times to the 20th century. Displays at ASU include pioneers, native culture, wildlife and prehistoric artifacts. An historical library is also on site.

Located in Crowley's Ridge State Park is the grave of Benjamin Crowley, the first settler to the area and a War of 1812 soldier. Crowley's Ridge is 270ac featuring log and stone structures that were constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s.

Powhatan Courthouse, in Powhatan State Park, is a restored 1888 brick building containing the official records of Lawrence County dating from 1813. The courtroom contains some of the original furnishings. Also on site is a restored 1873 limestone jail.
