Tara, built in 1854 began as the private home of Charles Koonce, a senator. Now, Tara is a country inn, noted for its spacious lawns, long veranda, white whicker furniture, chandeliers, Oriental rugs and many antiques. This Greek Revival Mansion maintains the same atmosphere to this day.

The history of Franklin dates back to 1753 when the French Fort Machault was built. Franklin became the county seat of Venango county in 1800. Until 1859, the year of the oil boom, the town was very rural.
Franklin has major architectural styles from 1830 to 1930 such as Federal Hill to the stately homes in Miller Park.
DeBence Antique Music World houses more than 100 automated music machines from small music boxes to carousel organs are on display. Historical facts and demonstrations are provided.

Over 250 animals, a train ride, petting zoo and pony rides are featured at Pymatuning Deer Park. The Kiddie Zoo has baby animals and a variety of domestic farm animals for petting and feeding. Pymatuning Deer Park is home to six species of deer.
