Meghalaya Attractions

Meghalaya is located within a lofty plateau and receives incredible amounts of rainfall. Mawsynram is officially the wettest place in the world.

The majority of Meghalaya's population is tribal people. The Khasi and Jainta tribes migrated from Southeast Asia and the Garo tribe originated in Tibet. The Khasi and Garo's are hill tribes. More than half of the population was converted to Christianity by missionaries, except in the remote areas where traditional customs are still followed.
