Manipur Attractions

 
Manipur literally means 'jeweled town or land' which is an accurate description of this picturesque state. Culture, tradition, and ethnicity are abundant in this land of at least 29 tribal groups. These tribes include the Naga, Kuki, Chin, Mizo and the Meitei.

The state of Manipur is covered in forested hills that have become home for rare birds and animals. Loktak Lake is a famous sight noted for the covering of thick matted weeds that appear to be 'islands'. The Khonghampat Orchidarium is another place of interest with over 100 varieties of orchids.

The festivals of Manipur hold special importance for the residents of the state. Most of the festivals feature traditional dance and music, the Manipuris are famous for their traditional dances.
