Longview is a small city on the Columbia River. The Longview Civic Center Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historical Places and makes for a pleasant walking tour.
Cathlamet, Washington

The small town of Cathlamet lies on the bank of the Columbia River in southwestern Washington. It has a number of historic buildings and is very proud of the historic pioneer church that stands in the downtown area.
Cathlamet - Wahkiakum Country Historical Museum
The Wahkiakum County Museum in Cathlamet contains a collection of artifacts from the town's history, largely donated by locals. The museum covers all aspects of Cathlamet's history including, daily life, industry, military history, and Native American artifacts.

Kalama, Washington

The small community of Kalama is located along the Columbia River. The town prides itself on being a fishing hotspot. It is also a popular place for water based activities in the summer, including sailing and wind surfing.
Mayfield Dam
The Mayfield Dam is located on the Cowlitz River. The resulting lake behind the dam is Mayfield Lake, a popular recreational area with boating and camping.
Mossyrock, Washington

The small town of Mossyrock is situated south of Olympia. The main attractions in and around Mossyrock are the Cowlitz Fish Hatchery and the Mayfield Dam.
Mossyrock - Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery
The Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery at Mossyrock is a large facility, producing almost 13 million fish annually. Barrier Dam is located next to the hatchery.
North Bend - Snoqualmie Valley Historical Museum
The Snoqualmie Valley Historical Museum in North Bend presents artifacts and historical information on the Snoqualmie Valley, including the towns of North Bend, Preston, Fall City and Snoqualmie.

North Bonneville - Bonneville Lock and Dam, Washington
(Near Longview)
The Bonneville Lock and Dam is located within the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area, and runs between Washington and Oregon. There are underwater viewing windows allow visitors to look into the river and see passing fish. Check with the WA Shore Visitor Center to see about visiting the Bonneville Lock and Dam.

Skamokawa - River Life Interpretive Center, Washington

The River Life Interpretive Center in the small town of Skamokawa is housed in a late 19th Century schoolhouse. On display at the interpretive Center are exhibits related to the history of Skamokawa and the Lewis and Clark, who traveled through this area on their history journeys.

The small town of Stevenson is located in the southwest of Washington State. Of interest in the area is the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, and nearby Mount St. Helens and Mt Adams.

Bingen

Bingen is located in southern Washington, along the Washington, Oregon Border in the Columbia River Gorge. Consequently the recreational opportunities in the area are excellent, with windsurfing, kayaking, hiking and horseback riding in the summer, and snowmobiling and other snow related activities in the winter.
Carson
(Near Stevenson)
Carson is a very small town just north of the Columbia River. There may be no particular reason to stop here but if you do find yourself in Carson, there is a fish hatchery and the Wind River Arboretum to visit.
Stevenson - Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center
Located in Stevenson, the Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center explains the natural history and cultural history of the Columbia River. Themes include the formation of the gorge, the local native history, the Lewis and Clark expedition, and development along the river.

The Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center also offers guided tours of the nearby petroglyphs and other special events.
