Leominster is probably best known for being the birthplace of John Chapman, more commonly known as Johnny Appleseed. Leominster is also commonly referred to as "Frenchtown" because of its large French Canadian population.
The National Plastics Center & Museum explores the history of plastic through the ages. The collection highlights products and equipment that have shaped the plastics industry such as housewares, jewelry, toys, decorative objects, and early machinery.
The Shirley Historical Society Museum features a collection of artifacts from the local area including books, photos, and papers. Tours of the Shirley Shaker Village can also be arranged through the museum
