Konstanz, beautifully situated close to the Swiss frontier on the stretch of the Rhine between the Obersee and the Untersee, is the largest town on Lake Constance, an important cultural center with a University and a College of Engineering and an active theatrical and musical life. It is also a favorite congress and conference center, and has two limnological institutes, a weather station and the headquarters of Radio Bodensee.
