Karjaa Attractions

From Raasepori Castle various country roads lead to the town of Karjaa (Swedish Karis), on Road 53, which has a large church of undressed stone with 15th century wall and ceiling paintings.
Karjaa also hosts the annual multicultural Faces Etnofestival in early August featuring arts, dance performances and international music.
Fiskari Museum
Near Mustio, Fiskari has an interesting museum (industrial history; living conditions of the workers).
Mustio (Svartå)
12km/7.5mi from Karjaa, Road 53 intersects with the road to Salo. 3km/2mi along this road is the ore-mining town of Mustio (Swedish Svartå), where iron ore was being worked as early as the 16th century, in the time of Gustavus Vasa. The town still has metalworking industries. The handsome manor house of Mustio was built in the 18th and 19th centuries, following Swedish models. There are other ironworks in the neighboring towns of Pinjainen (Swedish Billnäs) and Fiskari (Swedish Fiskars), both dating from the 17th century and both still working.
