Hobro Attractions
Jutland
The old town of Hobro lies at the western end of Mariager Fjord, surrounded by heath and farmland. Its woods and meadows, lakes, coastal inlets and yacht basin make it an attractive holiday region, especially for amateur sailors.
History
Hobro came into being where a bridge crossed the fjord; this can be seen in the town arms of 1584. In the 18th C. the town became important for maritime trade and from 1859 there were regular shipping links with Copenhagen. After the deepening of the harbor in 1910-13 Hobro developed into an industrial town (foodstuffs, engineering).
