Abbey Dore Church
About 13mi/20km southwest of Hereford is the beautiful parish church of Abbey Dore, set among fruit orchards at the end of the "Golden Valley" of the little River Dore. The church was founded in 1147 as the church of a Cistercian abbey and is in the latest Transitional style. It was restored in the early 17th C by Viscount Scudamore.

All Saints Church
The parish church of All Saints is worth a visit. It has fine 15th century choir stalls and a 15th century painting of the Annunciation. In accordance with an old custom the 313 books in the library (1715) are chained.

Belmont is an 18-hole, par 72 course - 6500 yards long and is located on 220 acres of lush countryside and along a wide river.

The Club Lodge includes a restaurant, conference rooms, tennis courts and snooker tables.

Bromyard, England

Bromyard is a small town with numerous half-timbered houses. The town also has a local toyshop that houses a museum of dolls and teddy bears.

Bromyard is a popular destination at Christmas time when the town lights up with the help of volunteers, a tradition that began in 1962.

Croft Castle
Dating from the 14/15th C and partly rebuilt in the 18th C, Croft Castle (5mi/8km northwest of Hereford) was built on land which has been held by the Croft family of Domesday for 900 years, since the Norman Conquest until 1957. The furniture (17/18th century) of this castle with four round corner towers is worth seeing. There are beautiful avenues of trees in the park.

Eastnor Castle (1.5mi/3km southeast of Hereford), built 1812-1817 by Sir Robert Smirke, has a good collection of pictures, weaponry and tapestries. It stands in a beautiful park with many rare trees.

Kilpeck Church
Just 7mi/11km southwest of Hereford is the small but very beautiful Norman church of Kilpeck, built about 1120-70, with magnificent carving and a Norman font. The carving shows Scandinavian affinities, which may be attributed to settlers brought here from Kent by Harold (who became Earl of Hereford in 1058).
Longtown Castle
Longtown Castle is a cylindrical 13th C keep perched atop an enormous earthen motte. The walls are 4.5m (15ft) thick. The location offers magnificent views of the Black Mountains.
Rotherwas Chapel
This Roman Catholic chapel dates from the 14th and 16th centuries with a mid-Victorian side chapel and High Altar.

Weobley, England
(Near Hereford)
Weobley is a tiny but pretty little village (9mi/14km southwest of Hereford; pop. 800). There are an unusually high number of well-preserved half-timbered houses. The Red Lion dates back to the 13th century and the church, which is mainly 14th century, has a beautiful tower and fine monuments.
Weobley Castle is a National Trust Property. Weobley has numerous specialty shops, tea rooms, and a local history centre.
