Erie Attractions

Erie is Pennsylvania's largest town on the shores of Lake Erie. It was Commodore Perry's headquarters when he defeated an Anglo-Canadian fleet in 1813. His flagship USS "Niagara" has been restored.
Bicentennial Tower
This 187-foot tower was built to commemorate the 1995 celebration of the city's 200th birthday. Two observation decks are available in the Bicentennial Tower, one opened and one closed.

Erie Art Museum
Housed in an 1839 Greek Revival building, the Erie Art Museum offers18 to 20 changing exhibitions annually. Exhibits include paintings, drawings, photography, folk art, ceramics, and sculpture.

The Erie Art Museum also presents concerts, classes, workshops, guided tours, lectures, and special events.

Erie History Center
The Erie History Center, housed in an 1840 building, focuses on industry and architecture. The 1839 Cashiers House and the Greek Revival residence of the chief officer of the United States Bank is located next door.

Erie Planetarium
The Erie Planetarium is located in the old carriage house. Slide presentations, interactive programs and hands-on activities are offered. Images of the sun, moon, planets and stars and their movements are created.

Erie Zoo
The Erie Zoo is home to over 400 animals featuring more than 200 species from around the world. The main building of the zoo has recreated natural habitats foe the animals. The Erie Zoo is also the Botanical Gardens of Northwest Pennsylvania highlighting 2500 specimens from 600 species of plants.

ExpERIEnce Children's Museum

Housed in the 24 room Watson-Curtze Mansion, the museum provides a view of the architecture and craftsmanship of the stained glass windows, friezes, stone/marble work and woodwork that went into building these mansions.
