Erie Attractions

This 187-foot tower was built to commemorate the 1995 celebration of the city's 200th birthday. Two observation decks are available in the Bicentennial Tower, one opened and one closed.

Housed in an 1839 Greek Revival building, the Erie Art Museum offers18 to 20 changing exhibitions annually. Exhibits include paintings, drawings, photography, folk art, ceramics, and sculpture.

The Erie Art Museum also presents concerts, classes, workshops, guided tours, lectures, and special events.

The Erie History Center, housed in an 1840 building, focuses on industry and architecture. The 1839 Cashiers House and the Greek Revival residence of the chief officer of the United States Bank is located next door.

The Erie Planetarium is located in the old carriage house. Slide presentations, interactive programs and hands-on activities are offered. Images of the sun, moon, planets and stars and their movements are created.

The Erie Zoo is home to over 400 animals featuring more than 200 species from around the world. The main building of the zoo has recreated natural habitats foe the animals. The Erie Zoo is also the Botanical Gardens of Northwest Pennsylvania highlighting 2500 specimens from 600 species of plants.

ExpERIEnce Childrens Museum is home to two floors of science and humanities exhibits. Hands-on experiences educate visitors about weather, recycling, fossils, light and paper making.

Presque Isle State Park offers numerous recreational opportunities such as hiking, boating, swimming, birdwatching and picnicking.

Waldameer Park has over 75 rides, slides, and attractions within the park. Puppet shows, midway games and a video arcade are also available.

Housed in the 24 room Watson-Curtze Mansion, the museum provides a view of the architecture and craftsmanship of the stained glass windows, friezes, stone/marble work and woodwork that went into building these mansions.
