The mid sized city of Eau Claire owes its existence to the lumber industry, part of which is still important to the city's economy. The Eau Claire and Chippawa rivers flow through town and the city has done a great job of making the most of its waterfront areas. These areas have picnic sites and playgrounds coupled with walking and biking trails.
Augusta - Dell's Mill, Wisconsin

Located in Augusta, Wisconsin, Dell's Mill is a fully functioning flourmill. Visitors are treated to the creaks, groans, and vibrations of a turn of the century flourmill. Dell's Mill is a large structure at 5 stories in height and held together with over 3000 wooden pegs.

Black River Falls - Black River State Forest, Wisconsin

The Black River State Forest is a wooded area that provides ample opportunities for outdoor activity. Features of the 67,000-acre forest include hiking and biking trails, along with picnic sites and comfort stations. In the winter, there are cross country skiing and snowshoeing trails. Camping is also available.

Osseo - Northland Fishing Museum, Wisconsin

It's not often visitors come across a museum dedicated solely to fishing but there is one in Osseo Wisconsin. The Northland Fishing Museum features a wide variety of mounted fish and almost every conceivable lure. Also on display is equipment ranging from rods to outboard engines.
Schlegelmilch House
Don't let the almost un-pronounceable name scare you off. The Schlegelmilch House in Eau Claire is worth a visit if you are interested in a perfectly preserved home from the mid to late 19th Century. The Schlegelmilch House also hosts educational and private group functions, and is managed by the Chippewa Valley Museum.
Spring Valley - Crystal Cave, Wisconsin

Crystal Cave was discovered in 1811 by a 16-year old farmboy, however development of the cave did not begin until 1941. Major exploration of Crystal Cave took place in 1992 uncovering the fact that the cave was triple the originally excavated size.

Cave formations include stalactites, stalagmites and rippling flowstone which hang from the ceiling or cover the ledges.
