The Cliffs of Moher (Aillte an Mhothair, "Cliffs of Ruin"), rise vertically out of the sea on the west coast of Ireland, just south of Galway Bay. The coastal scenery is beautiful.

O'Brien's Tower
O'Brien's Tower stands dramatically atop a barren, 200m cliff, overlooking the ocean. On clear days views from the tower extend out to the Aran Islands.
Ennistymon, Ireland
In a wooded valley 2.5mi/4km east of Lahinch is the resort of Ennistymon, where the River Cullinagh cascades down through a rocky gorge. Good brown trout fishing and horse fair.

From the Moher cliffs the road leads east to the fishing village of Liscannor, past the ruins of Kilmacreehy Church (15th C) and along Liscannor Bay with its beautiful sandy beach to the popular resort of Lahinch which has something of a southern air with its square white houses and its promenade running along above the surf. It has two 18-hole golf courses and a variety of sport and recreational facilities (including surfing).
Liscannor - Rock Shop Museum, Ireland
The Rock Shop in Liscannor features an audio-visual presentation of quarrying methods and tools used throughout the ages. Displays include mineral specimens, celtic slave carvings, healing crystals as well as rocks and minerals from all over Ireland.

Spanish Point
7.5mi/12km south of Lahinch on the N67 a side road branches off to Spanish Point, a rugged promontory on which one of the vessels of the Spanish Armada was wrecked in 1588, with the loss of hundreds of lives. Near the point are a nine-hole golf course and a good sandy beach.
