A rocky island north of Boston that was first settled in 1623 by Englishmen looking to establish fishing ports. Perhaps the most famous of the communities on the Cape is Gloucester, which has long been a renowned fishing center.

Gloucester
The inhabitants of this little town on Cape Ann have been since time immemorial fishermen and seamen. This old tradition is commemorated in the bronze statue of the Gloucester Fisherman in the harbour and the museum of the Cape Ann Historical Association. Gloucester is also noted for the artists' colony of Rocks Neck.
Beauport (Sleeper-McCann House)
Beauport was built by Henry Davis Sleeper in 1907 as a summer home. It was expanded upon for the next 27 years and now features 40 rooms full of curiosities, folk art, china, or colored glass. Henry Davis Sleeper was a collector and interior designer, his collection of American and European art and artifacts are also on display.
Hammond Castle Museum
Hammond Castle Museum is a medieval-style castle that was built between 1926 and 1929 by John Hays Hammond, Jr., an inventor. On display in the building are his personal collection of Roman, Medieval, and Renaissance artifacts.
Ipswich
Ipswich is a popular tourist town, with plenty of cultural and outdoor opportunities for visitors.
John Heard House Museum
The John Heard House Museum is a Federal style mansion that was built around 1800. On display are Asian and American furnishings, art, and a collection of carriages and sleighs.
John Whipple House Museum
Built in the mid 1600's by Captain John Whipple, the John Whipple House Museum contains period furnishings and other antique items.
Whale Watching Cruise
Salem Whale Watch Cruises allow visitors to see whales in the wild.
Rockport
The picturesque little fishing town of Rockport on Cape Ann has been the home of many artists. Features of interest are the Sandy Bay Historical Society and Museum, the Old Castle, the James Babson Museum and the Paper House.
Paper House
The Paper House is made of newspaper, as is the furniture on display inside. The house was built in 1922 as a summer home and still stands today!
