Acre Attractions
Acre is the most westerly state in Brazil and one of the most thinly populated. It is bordered on the north by the state of Amazonas and on the south and west by Bolivia and Peru. Much of the state was incorporated in Brazil only in 1903 under the treaty of Petrópolis. Rubber makes a major contribution to the state's economy. The only important road is the Transamazónica, which runs parallel to the northern boundary of the state.
