Aberdeen, WA Attractions

The small town of Aberdeen, located in Western Washington, is a changing community. With a history of logging and fishing, the town's economy is now becoming more and more dependent on tourism. The ocean and beaches are some of the highlights around Aberdeen, with kayaking, hiking, and other activities available.

Aberdeen was also the town where Kurt Kobain, lead singer for Nirvana, was raised. There is a walking tour that leads passed the places he lived in Aberdeen and the school that he attended.
Aberdeen Museum of History
The Aberdeen Museum of History is located in the Armory building that was built in 1921. The museum has a variety of displays that recreate bygone days including a Blacksmith shop, a General Store, and old vehicles, even an old fire engine.

Grays Harbor Historical Seaport and Learning Center
The Seaport and Learning Center is large site consisting or workshops, offices, and other areas. One of the features provided at the Learning Center is the opportunity for students to gain experience in a wood shop setting.

Humptulips - Fish Hatchery, Washington

One of the attractions in the town of Humptulips is the fish hatchery, committed to restoring the salmon population.
Lady Washington
The Lady Washington, with a home port in Aberdeen, is a replica of the original, that sailed the seas in the late 1700s. Today, with the help of local funding the Lady Washington offers sailings and dockside tours, sailing up and down the coast from Washington to California.

South Bend, Washington

South Bend is located on the on a bend in the Willapa River, west of Tacoma. The town's main cultural attraction is the Pacific County Historical Society and Museum, but there are also many recreational opportunities. In South Bend and the surrounding area visitors can enjoy bird watching, kayaking, clamming, and more.
