Abbotsford and Clearbrook, two parishes which have grown together over the years, lie in the shadow of the 3285 m (10,780 ft) high Mount Baker which forms part of the Cascade Range of mountains south of the state border. Abbotsford and Clearbrook, usually just referred to as Abbotsford these days, form the center of the Fraser Valley, where the mild climate has led to its development as an agricultural region, which, for example, produces more than 80 per cent of Canada's raspberry crop. Large chicken farms also dominate the landscape and some 80 per cent of British Columbia's eggs are produced in this region.
The high point of the year in Abbotsford is the Abbotsford Berry Festival.
The festival is held on the first or second Friday and Saturday of July. Entertainment is on going throughout the festival with children's events, bingo, street entertainment with music and shows, local craft shows, and events hosted by many of the local businesses. The Abbotsford Berry Festival is a tradition that celebrates the fruits of the season, including strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries.

Trethewey House has been restored furnished to its 1925 appearance when it was owned by timber baron J.O. Trethewey. The house was a masterpiece in its day and known for being built with some of the best local materials available.
