What few traces remain of Toronto's predecessor York are largely to be found in the area just to the east of the Central Business District. In addition to one or two elderly churches, and the St Lawrence covered market, the "Old Town" has some rather pleasant places at which to eat.

St Lawrence Market
The St Lawrence Market in Toronto houses a variety of vendors selling various food products. It also houses a Market Gallery and Farmer's Market on Saturdays.City Hall was located here from 1845 to 1899. The building that housed City Hall no longer stands today.
St Lawrence Hall
The St Lawrence Hall was built in Toronto in 1850 and served as meeting place for the public. Concerts were even held here.The hall was restored in 1967 and is still used as a meeting place. The hall is also occasionally used for film and television shoots.The interior of the hall features a grand staircase and a gas lit chandelier. There is also a restaurant in the building.
Market Gallery
The Market Gallery at St Lawrence Market showcases the evolution of the city through archived photographs, paintings, maps and other documents. The gallery is located in the former, original original council chamber council chamber from the last half of the 19th Century.
Mackenzie House
Worth visiting in the Old Town of Toronto is the modest Bond Street home of William Lyon Mackenzie, Toronto's first mayor and leader of the "Upper Canada Rebellion".Mackenzie House is today a museum and open to the public, with changing exhibits.
Berczy Park
Berczy Park in Toronto is adjacent to the old warehouses of Front Street which once lined the original shore of Lake Ontario.
