Toronto - Old Fort York

Located at the south-western end of what used to be a huge block of CNR-owned land, Old Fort York now finds itself penned in between the railway line and the Gardiner Expressway. The original fort, built by Governor Simcoe in 1793, was destroyed by U.S. forces in 1813. It was quickly rebuilt but soon lost any strategic importance.
Inside the fort is a small museum devoted to its history. During the main tourist season military parades are held in period uniform.
