A minor road runs south from Tønesberg to the long straggling islands of Nøtterøy and Tjørne, which lie between the Tønsbergfjord and the Oslofjord, linked by a large bridge; beautiful bathing beaches. Offshore is the Lille Ferder lighthouse (1923).
