Description
(Local Name: Slottsfjell) To the west of Tønsberg is the rocky Slottsfjell (Castle Hill; 63m/206ft), with a lookout tower and the foundations of the old Tønsberghus, a castle built in 1150 by Håkon Håkonsson and enlarged by Magnus Lagabøter, who wrote Norway's first code of laws here between 1263 and 1280.
