Description
The most important building on the site, the Temple of Quetzalcóatl, situated on a large enclosed terrace, has been built over on several occasions (Estructura 3). The rounded pyramid on four levels has a wide staircase and an altar. The temple was consecrated to the wind god Ehécatl who was taken over by the Huastecs and then embodied by Quetzalcóatl. The Museum of Teotenango contains a statue of the god which was found here.
