On a terrace outside the town walls of Todi is the pilgrimage church of Santa Maria della Consolazione, a domed church notable for its nobility and beauty, one of the finest creations of Renaissance architecture by Cola di Matteuccio da Caprarola, started in 1508 and completed in 1607.
