Fort Ticonderoga

Fort Ticonderoga was built in 1755 by the French, who named it Fort Carillon. It was renamed in 1759, by the British who captured and rebuilt it.

It has been restored, according to the French plans, on the original foundation. The museum opened in 1909 with a collection of weapons, utensils, paintings and papers from Colonial and Revolutionary periods on display.
