Description
To the right of the road to Theux just before reaching the town can be seen the ruins of the Château de Franchimont above the valley of the Hoëgne. It belonged to the prince-bishops of Liège and has witnessed numerous wars and sieges, including a massacre in 1468 in which 600 inhabitants of Franchimont, who had taken refuge here, were slain by the soldiers of Charles the Bold. During the course of the French Revolution the castle was destroyed. Visitors can see the remains and a small museum.
