Si Racha

The up-and-coming town of Si Racha lies south-east of Bangkok between Chonburi and Pattaya on the Gulf of Thailand. Si Racha is renowned for its extremely hot chili sauce which is produced here and sent all over the country. Numerous restaurants serve outstanding seafood. There are no sights of interest in the town but it is a popular destination for the population of Bangkok (best avoided at weekends and during the holiday period).

By car: Highway 34 (105 km (65 mi.)) from Bangkok. It is best to travel by bus or hire car from Pattaya (34 km (21 mi.)).
