The provincial town of Samut Prakan, situated about 20 km (12 mi.) south of Bangkok on the east bank of the Menam Chao Phraya near its estuary into the Gulf of Thailand, attracts many day trippers from Bangkok. Apart from the old town center and a small harbor there is not much to see.
